This episode some thing happen as expected and some don't.
What wasn't expected was a reward I got from a mission: a treasure map showing the location of a sunken convoy. Which turned out to have lots of highly valuable goods.

What was expected was that at some point in the game Spain would enter a war with another nation, thus boosting the amount of fleets they had up to the point where they are considered "strong" again, right before or right after the moment I had them being weak. I didn't have them at that point, but the new war did start when they were at "normal" strength, which was the signal for me to bail out of the war, pay the fine and activate my trade convoys again.
