♦ Episode description: see below↓
In this chapter, Gus continues his investigation, which leads him to a strange conversation with the police psychoanalyst, Dr. Kaufner, a meeting with the unexpectedly rich doorman at the Orphée, Theo Malet, and even a brief run-in with the chief murder suspect, the mysterious moustachioed man from the witnesses' descriptions. Unfortunately, the suspect evades capture, and the next day, Malet is found murdered as well. Eventually, Gus learns the identity of the suspect - a retired cop, Jacques Hellouin - and tracks him all the way to his hideout, where it turns out that the two men's challenges were not all that dissimilar from each other in the first place... except that Hellouin seems to be much more in the know about the mysterious "Whytes" (a.k.a. "Eatons") and their association with the ominous Brotherhood of the Supreme Order of The Rosy Cross, whom, as it turns out, the Eatons were attempting to swindle before ending up dead.
