Duna. Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt. Made the video. Made a few of them in fact.
In order to achieve our objective of lifting our leg on every reasonably accessible body in space, we have to go back. We gotta plant our flag just because, because we have a flag to plant. But I am going to want something more than just dumping some kerbals on the surface, getting them out of the capsule and having them wave and salute and climb back in. I want a Duna flying machine.
In Part 2, we have some adventures with turning the airplane into silly string, an almost completely unmaneuverable carrier rocket, a slightly botched aerobraking maneuver, and a descent to the surface without engines, RCS, SAS or anything other than rudders, ailerons, and Balls O Steel.
Stopping a winged aircraft coming in from SPACE in an atmosphere that is so thin that flying is only barely possible... that is the kind of gluttony for punishment that you have come to expect from Journey Into Space. ;)
