Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time After Time part 1
Welcome SimuSquad to another glorious retro adventure on the channel! This is part 1 of our run through Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on PlayStation 2! I haven't played this game since I was a teenager, and with the new remake having been announced, I decided to visit the original to see how it will compare! So, grab a watch and let's go save the sands of time!
We start our game in an attack on a castle in India that was rumored to have great treasures hidden away. This is basically our movement and combat basics tutorial. Of course, We died a few times trying to get the context buttons to work properly. As any Legend of Zelda player can tell you, context controls can make things a bit complicated. After I get my angles right, the platforming becomes easier. We work my way further into the castle to find the vault that holds the Dagger of Time. The Prince wants a souvenir he could show off, so we make our way into the vault to retrieve it. After doing so, we arrive back in the main treasure room where the Prince's father, and the Vizier are discussing the treasure. The Vizier is denied the Dagger, and we see him start coughing into a cloth. Blood remains when he pulls his head back.
Not long after, we arrive back in the Kingdom of Persia, and the Vizier tricks the king into using the Dagger on the Hourglass to open it. The Sands of Time escape and start to corrupt all of the denizens of the castle. Only three escape the corruption. They are the Prince, Farrah (who we shall formally meet soon), and the Vizier. The Prince engages the enemies in the room in battle, and we get our first taste of real combat. Once we clear the room, the Prince starts to chase after Farrah. We have lots of platforming of sections until we finally get to her and have a conversation. We make our way back to the main room, and fight more sand monsters including the Prince's father. After defeating him, we continue to explore the castle, and upgrade the dagger. In one room, we activate the castle's defences and make our life harder. We finally get to the zoo, and call it a day with 25% of the game completed.
