Resident Evil Revelations 2: Now What did Umbrella Do? Part 5: Metamorphosis
1Welcome Simusquad to another glorious part of our run through Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Playstation 4! This part was able to get both halves of the chapter in because the Claire and Moira have was a very short part. Let jump right in and see how it went!
We pick back up at the top of the elevator getting closer to Alex Wesker. There we climb up some stairs that come to a server room with monitors that show parts of the island that we have been to, and the status of all the test subjects. Only two are still alive. Those two are Claire and Moira. More stairs later, we come across a bedroom with lots of documents and an aquarium. The room looks like a dead end, but one smashed aquarium later, we find, you guessed it, more stairs! We meet Alex, and see her end for this chapter. Once she's handled, a self destruct sequence starts, and it's time to run. Just like any Metroid game, we are racing against the clock. Of course, it's not just a stroll. We run into Glasps. Did you know, that they can kill the combat character with one hit, but can't kill the recon partner? I didn't until I found out the hard way. Use Moira to scout ahead, and use Claire to kill the Glasps. Once we deal with that issue, we come to an outside portion where is really easy to fall to our death. There is one more segment inside where we lose one of our characters. One dive into the ocean later, we return to Barry and Natalia!
We pick up with a cinematic flashback from Barry and jump into the game. We start in a area that Claire and Moira never visited. It is the sluice gates that they saw outside on the monitors in the server room. This area has a few Rotted in it that get in the way of our mission to reach a building that may lead out. This area is mostly for finding some supplies and dealing with the occasional scrap. This segment is done relatively quickly, but the next area becomes a bit complicated. It features a crane that Barry and Natalia must work together to cross. This section would probably have been easier to deal with in co-op, but passing control back and forth wasn't the worst. This leads us to a giant mine that we get to wind our way through. Unfortunately, there is poison gas all over the place. We can survive it for a while, but eventually, the gas will kill us if we dally too long. To get out we have to activate the fans that will take the poison gas out of the mine and let us down. Most of this area is just avoiding enemies as much as possible and completing short puzzles. Of course, once we unlock the room to the fan control, a bunch of enemies show up to kill us. We triumph, and take care of the gas. We also have to fight some monsters to acquire the key to the elevator. Once the everything is ready, we descend to the next segment.
Here we find a massive door with electronic lock. Natalia is able to open it up with a hand scanner. Nothing suspicious there, I'm sure. Behind the door, we find a spooky mansion. What's up with the Weskers and weird mansions. Also, it has the classic doors that require overly complicated keys. Of course, it is also full of monsters who we have to kill one after another. We have to run around to find our access cards, and end up in the basement where experiments have been being performed making Revenants. And yes, we end up fighting a few of them. Finally, we get through the mansion and come to a secret elevator. Of course, it's a trap. We activate it, and enemies come from everywhere. One long and costly arena battle later, we clear it, and head down to meet what's left of Alex Wesker. We move through a creepy hallway, and finally find our final boss. In a game of hide and seek, we blow a bunch of new holes into her, and kick off a cinematic. This cinematic leads us to the Good Ending of the game, and help from some familiar faces. After that, it's a fun (for me) game of tag before we finally bring Alex down, and finally get to see the end of the main campaign. Don't worry. Next week, we will do the first of the extra episodes. We round out the game with a quick level of Raid Mode, and end the stream.
