Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Gone Bye Bye part 9
0Welcome SimuSquad and fellow adventurers! Here we are! The final part of our glorious retro adventure through Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on Nintendo GameCube! This is the last episode of the game! This is considered Chapter 12: Eternal Darkness! This time we stick with Alexandra Roivas the whole time. It's time to end this threat from the Ancients!
We pick up in the basement of the Roivas Manor before we enter the one room we haven't been able to visit. Inside the room is a hatch that was opened last week when we finally got the chance to solve the telescope puzzle. Under the hatch is a ladder that leads down into familiar territory. Once more, we have descended back into the City of Enn'gha. No longer the home of a horde of monsters, but there are still plenty of traps. There are still some monsters in the area, but they don't prove to be much of a threat. We come across the hallway to the Stargate thing from a few episodes back, find out that it has been trapped with a damage field. Luckily, we have a shield spell up, and it takes the damage for us. One quick dispel later, we are into the Stargate room. We have to repair a pedestal before we can reactive the Gate. Once the pedestal is repaired, we place the pieces of the Ancients that we have acquired upon them. This reactivates the Gate, and we start to reactive the circle one sigil at a time. Just like with Edward, we have to clear any enemies, and input the sigil into the tower. We come across some enemies and puzzles in the rooms that follow towers, but for the most part, this part is relatively quick. I do find out that I put in the one sigil in wrong, but after I activate all the other towers, I fix it.
This brings us to the final confrontation. We have a quick cinematic of Alex and Pious finally meeting, we start the battle for the fate of humanity. I do die once in this battle, but only once and we get to see the bad ending. Not a totally bad thing. This fight is a bit of back and forth that kicks up the intensity of the fight, and cinematics of the Ancient Ones represented in this fight battling between phases. We have to not just attack Pious at first. We have to hit him to force out the location of the relic of Chattur'gha. Once we hit the relic enough times, Phase Two starts with the ghosts of heroes past return for a chance to take a shot at Pious and his patron. I find out that I need to hit Pious to spawn the relic, and take the form of one of the ghost. They are armed with their signature melee weapon. They are a bit slow in some cases, but I triumph in the end. The final phase is just a proper scrap with us just hitting each other until he goes down. We get to see more cinematics of Ancient Ones battling with ours coming out on top. Once the battle is done, Edward Roivas returns to seal away the Ancient One we summoned. Once that is done, we get the next big cinematic of Chattur'gha getting sealed away. We save the game data, just in case some day I choose to go back to get the other two endings and the full secret ending!
