In this video essay, I analyze Prison Architect through the lens of Hannah Arendt's famous book Eichmannn in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil. The tutorial to Prison Architect is incredibly interesting in this regard, as the player is pretty much a cog in the machine of the game, incapable of morally making decisions, only the person who plans out the construction of the prison itself. The player is nobody, and thus reinforces the "rule of nobody" found in Arendt's book. Arendt was quite controversial in her time, so I can understand if parts of this video are controversial to you, if that is the case, it's okay. I'd love to chat with you below, but lets keep it respectful.
