What Makes Tetris so Satisfying?
Tetris was one of the few games I had on my giant white Game Boy as a child (my first video game console, no less), for all the hours I dumped into it back then I definitely owe that grey cartridge a little bit of love in video form, so here it is! I didn't directly cite a scholar in this video but a lot of these ideas are similar to Johan Huizinga's ideas about games (especially the part about order and chaos). He's from the old, old days of games scholarship, but many of his theories still influence and describe how games are understood today.
What do you think of Tetris? Do you find it satisfying? Fulfilling? Perhaps not? Let me know down in the comments, and as always, have a wonderful day!
