0This is a beautifully designed SMPS using 2x 555, an OpAMP and a voltage-reference source. It's a very efficient switch-mode constant current design. SEPIC topology is great because the output voltage can be lower and higher than the input voltage.
Top dial controls constant voltage and bottom dial controls constant current. Since it's constant current, it's safe to power the LED directly, including tiny red LED.
