Another day, another single level. So why do I play these bad games? Well, because you can learn just as much from bad games as you can from good games sometimes, and you never know where some elements are going to come from.

It's easy to see games that work, and think you can copy them. There's hundreds of clone games out there, most of which are vastly inferior to what they were trying to clone. Some exceed the originals, but those are rare. Why is that? Well, some of the games are done on the cheap, quick, just trying to exploit the market to make a quick buck. Others, sometimes they people making them just don't really know what the good ideas were. Sometimes, the people making them have new ideas to add that just don't work. The thing is, you can't just look at what someone else did that DID work, and expect to be able to succeed there. Knowing what fails, what to avoid, can be important too.

This game is bad. Especially by today's standards, it has not held up well. Chunky graphics, an atrocious control scheme, very slow paced, a lot of things just don't help it. But there are elements the game does right. While it falls into the trap that puzzle/adventure games frequently have, where some puzzles just make no sense, or require you to see something hidden, some of the solutions this game provides are clever. I really like the hole in the elevator floor that you have to stand on some derbies and let the elevator descent around you to get in. I do appreciate the dilapidated, destroyed environments you have to navigate around - which is a core mechanic of this game, trying to find your way. It's not always obvious, in fact it's frequently frustrating to me, but I do like how you have to find non-standard paths.

Besides, sometimes games can surprise you. Unless this one gets a lot better very fast, this won't be one. But I can't forget examples like Realms of the Haunting, a game that I am truly glad I gave the chance, even after initial hesitation and frustration.

For a show that I'm trying to be entertaining and educational on, bad games are an unfortunate must. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
