In this episode, we try to recreate Project Orion, a very Kerbal project initiated in 1958 to try to propel a rocket using atomic bombs.

This system would have had the advantage of extremely high thrust and high efficiency, and the Orion has been considered as a possible interstellar craft (figures indicated about a 44 year trip to Alpha Centauri). The bad news is that any crew would be constantly giggled from low G's to about 4 G's once every second, sort of like being in a blender. There were potential shock absorbing systems considered to even that out, but no matter how you slice it, you're still dropping atom bombs out the back end like a beer-drinking hillbilly throwing empties from the bed of a pickup. ;)
