Genau Unlimited is a new sub-label from Genau Recordings, Turin based label already know for its several techno releases from 2017 to today. Genau Unlimited, on the other hand, was born, as the name implies, without limits and boundaries. Or rather, it is a label that intends to give space to all those electronic sounds that are defined as non-conventional or non-linear. No techno, house or deep-house therefore, but big space for ambient, experimental, broken sounds, wave or melodic and instrumental lines that usually dont find a place on dancefloors or in bags of most DJs.
Project-To, for its personal audio and video experimentation, meets the literary dimension through the work of Charles Baudelaire, forerunner of the vision of our present world and of the distress of the contemporary human being. The duo made by Riccardo Mazza and Laura Pol elaborates a project where vocal elements look at unexplored sound horizons, inspired by the famous poetry from Les Fleurs du Mal, whose verses, in their explicit mix of high and low, sublime and vulgar, are a direct consequence of the opposition between spleen and idéal. Riccardo wanted to resume the traditional method of recording directly on the tape as they used to do in recording studios in the 80s and 90s, taking care of the execution manually until the perfect take is reached. Analog, modular synthesizers and vintage samplers were used along with the numerous 80s and 90s machines of the studio. Each sound has been meticulously processed using the many iconic processors featured at Experimental Studios. The voice is Laura Pol’s and has been algorithmically processed using a Kyma system specially programmed by Riccardo.
