6Even with the level/world greatly increased in scale people trying to hide can easily be found because the only hiding spot most try is one next to a grace/bonfire. In Elden Ring finding a host's general location is even simplified as the compass marker for them is removed when you're vaguely within lock on range.
Looking for props in Elden Ring is harder compared to previous games though as the lighting doesn't give them away as it once did. Aside from placement the only real tell for ER prop disguises is that they use a lower resolution texture compared to an actual prop of the same type but that's not always obvious if there isn't one nearby for comparison. One thing that helps however is knowing that each area type (Limgrave field, Caelid field, academy, dungeon, etc) has only 3 set props available for the Mimic Veil.
