Playing through the PS1 Captain Commando with Mummy Commando, difficulty set to the highest "Very Hard" setting, and using the PS1 version's "ORIGINAL" BGM sound option, which gives the game a completely different, arranged funk soundtrack.

Mummy is my favorite character. : ) He's got a great reach with those long arms!

The arcade version--as seen in Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle on PS4, at least--has eight levels of difficulty, plus four levels of a secondary "rank"-style difficulty setting that controls how fast difficulty ramps up; this PS1 version has only a single, five-level difficulty setting, so I'm not sure how that corresponds to the arcade difficulty. I'll have to play the arcade one on the highest setting next, I guess!

This version has pretty consistent slowdown throughout in the busier fights; that's something else I need to compare with the PS4 version. It never gets so bad it absolutely ruins the action or anything, but it is noticeable and you do have to adjust your timing a bit. In particular, it made it hard to pull off Mummy's spin move (press both buttons simultaneously) reliably, like in the SHTROM.Jr boss fight at 6:50.
