(PS4 60fps) Final Fight - max difficulty Guy play-through w/o flashing scenes ~ The Beat Up #39
Is it just me, or is the stage 2 boss, Sodom, the deadliest boss in the game? = o
Playing here on the highest difficulty setting--the game actually has two separate difficulty options: one is a standard difficulty setting, the other is more like the "rank" concept seen in a lot of shoot 'em up games--a scale for how quickly the difficulty increases as you survive longer. I set both to max.
I'd been avoiding Final Fight in the "Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle" collection on PS4, because I'd tried to play it and run into two scenes with flashing effects in the first two stages, which had put me off: there's a maintenance corridor or something with flickering overhead lighting in stage 1, and a long subway ride with tunnel lights flashing past the windows (not as bad, but goes on much longer) in stage 2.
But I finally realized that I could grit my teeth and play through those scenes with sunglasses on B.], let myself get killed off right after the second of them--the subway ride--and then use the Bundle's meager single save state slot to save right after the subway ride, and as long as I kept that save state and always just started from there on a play-through, I'd never have to see those two early flashing scenes again! : D So that's what I've done here, playing through the rest of the game as Guy.
(You can catch the skipped over beginning stages with the flashing scenes in the first 9 minutes of my play-through of the PS2 version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lFjMeRPxj0 )
Man, this game is fun. And the sprites seem to me to be a little bigger than those in their later games, like Captain Commando. FF may have just gone back up to being my #1 Capcom beat 'em up. : )
