This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the various consoles I own.

Wow, I actually look like I don't suck at this game in this vid. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Anyways, yes, another PS1 Shmup. i figured that since I've pretty much shown the extend of my PS1 Shmup collection (Gekioh, G-Darius, and Einhander), I may as well finish it off (but my collection is still work in progress mind you)

R-Types on the PS1 gives you two classic Shmup games R-Type, and R-Type II. Make no mistake about it, these are two great classics, that are extremely hard. In fact, I'm only playing R-Type on normal, and I'm playing R-Type II on easy, and these games are still insane. Luckily, the game gives you infinite continues. Now that may lead some people to say that that takes all the challenge away by giving the player an infinite number of tries, but, honestly, no. Even with the infinite continues offered in both of these games, they are still harder than hell. To those who can beat these games on their hardest difficulties, my hat's off to you. R-Type II especially is insanely hard for me. I somehow manage to do decent in this vid (granted, even on easy, R-Type II kicks my sorry ass), but normally, I can spend 20 continues just trying to get to the second level. These games were arcade games, and they wanted your money badly.

Impatient gamers need no apply to this one. it's purely oldschool in flavor which means it takes a lot of patience, and a lot of time to master both of these games. However, that's the appeal to oldschool gamers when it comes to games of these types.

If you're a nostalgic fan, or just a shmup fan in general, than check out R-Types on the PS1. You get two great classics in the package.

R-Types is also available for download on the Playstation Store for those PS3 owners out there. It's only $6, and it's a steal at that price.

The PS1 Exclusive R-Type Delta is also a mere $6 on the PSN Store (whereas the PS1 disk will run you around $30-$50+), and, though I'm a materialist who likes to have the original copies of his games in his hands, I'm extremely tempted to buy R-Type Delta from the Playstation Store, because you can't beat it's price.
