The hard drive on my PS3 recently died (luckily I was able to backup all my saves before it completely died) so I decided to throw an SSD in because why not. After getting it all set up I installed PS3 HEN and MultiMAN to make backups of my games so I can save the life of the Blu-ray drive. After this I was curious to see if there would be a performance boost when running the ISO file directly from the SSD vs running it from the Blu-ray drive and the difference in loading times is impressive! It should be noted the the PS3 can't utilize the full speed benefits of SSDs due to the rest of the PS3 internals but its still a considerable boost.
Final Fantasy 13 is decent, probably wouldn't recommend but I already got the trilogy lol
