PS4.5 / PS4K / PS4 Neo Thoughts ( while playing Ratchet & Clank)
With the PS4's half-successor announced - the PS4 Neo (so far that's the name), it looks like Sony is planning to create their own odd closed-PC-ish upgrade path, with a standard OS, x86 architecture and GPU manufacturer. I thought why not chat about it while playing the rather nice-looking Ratchet and Clank.
With a 600Mhz CPU boost, and over 2x the GPU power, it will run new games for the standard PS4 at higher framerates and with more detail. Like 2 Graphics presets on PC games. I expect it will not be able to do 4K gaming, but upscale 1080p games to 4K, but hey - what the hell do I know, thats only based on the fact that a $400 machine with a GPU based on the new AMD Pitcairn platform would not be able to do 4K resolution native games at 30fps even. But I guess we will know by the end of this year, or early next!
