It's pretty simple, PlayStation is taking risks with PS5. Their design is bold and unashamed, they're leaning into less marketable features such as SSD improvements and 3D sound, and they are leaning heavily into first party exclusives in the age of cross-play. Xbox, meanwhile, is playing it very safe with the Series X. The name is painfully similar to the One X, the design is bland and uncreative, and the feature set relies on raw power as opposed to unique feature adds. We shall see which team will win, but as of right now it seems that Sony has the upper hand.
