Here is quite a late game released on the playstation in 1997 as a budget title.
As a budget title it lacks any in game story and pretty much just kicks off with gameplay much like any classic 80s/ early 90s game which adds to its charm. The gameplay is pretty simple. You are on rails travellingalong a tube and you need to rotate around it and dodge obstacles and enemy fire. After you have destroyed the mini boss in each tunnel, you get to take on the main boss.
I play on hard making the levels quite long and dangerous as it seems like you fight everything twice. its only 8 levels but it could get tiresome after a while, but thankfully a good track keeps it interesting.
After completing the game, I use the password it gives to play a second loop with the unlocked ship you get at the end of the game. This mode is more like a cheat mode as there is no ending and no highscore input. However the game is much playable as you get a much more powerful weapon and special ability. Sadly I didn't realise until a few levels in that the special weapon does not add to the Hit/Miss ratio so I get a very low rating on the first few levels and and overall low rating at the end of the game. Also the last 2 bosses need you to use your bullets so alot of misses happen at the end of the game. I think i may have had max rating if i did better on the first few levels. Oh well.
