You'd think that people would discuss topics like non-consensual sexual activities more carefully online, but clearly not. There are plenty of people who really don't grasp the concept of a fair hearing.

"This person admitted that they've defended rapists and helped them get lighter sentences."

Yes, that's what a public defender is supposed to do. They're supposed to give a fair hearing to both sides of the law, especially if the person in question was merely accused of rape rather than being an actual rapist because those possibilities are definitely there unless you don't want to consider that.

"Public defenders and lawyers do not have to take rape cases by the way."

Well, someone doesn't understand the law. Yes, public defenders do have to take those cases. Thank you community notes. They are assigned cases where they have to be the defenders, and they cannot decline on moral grounds. Does anyone not know the concept of fair hearing, or due process in general? Do people just want to be vigilantes and apply their own laws?

"If a rapist comes into the ER, should doctors just let them bleed out?"

"Yes!"

Wow, you are intellectually challenged. Sorry to say this, but doctors do not discriminate patients based on the crimes they committed. Their duty is to keep the patients healthy and safe. It is the job of the court to determine whether that patient is worthy of jail time or even the death penalty in some areas.

"Why bother saving this scummy species?"

Because it's the doctor's job to save patients. It's the court's job to determine whether that patient is guilty of a crime or not. You want to commit vigilante nonsense, consider your ass warned.
