Hello again folks! I said that antonball would be the last but I've just been itching to do punch-out, did a lot of practice on my switch after watching a useful guide.

(Also I kinda consider it a 1cc since you only have 1 credit and 2 lives/chances. Once you lose 3 times then only is it a game over.)

Anyways Punch-Out!!, a simple boxing game that heavily relies on blistering reflexes and pattern memorization. Despite some limitations due to the NES not being able to replicate it's arcade counterpart, it still managed to be one of the best titles on the NES.

This right here though is the gold edition. What's the gold edition exactly? Before the release of Mike Tyson's punch out, Nintendo of japan held a competition for their FSD title Famicom Golf: U.S. Course. Folks with the highest score would receive their copy of Punch-Out!! The only major difference is sound, color and the final opponent being Macho Man.

I don't have much to say on this really except for how cruel later opponents can be since it requires split second reactions. Second gripe I have is you only have 2 lives/chances. Lose once and you get a rematch, lost twice to the same opponent and your rank lowers, lose for the 3rd time and it's game over. It's at least nice enough to have password system to let you continue where you left off. The only advice I can give is to learn patterns and don't anticipate attacks, just react and dodge.

I choked a bit with the 2nd flamenco fight since he's much harder and eats at your hearts. Sandman, it's always dreamland express that gets. As for Macho Man, the only thing hard about him is his spin punch, similar to sandman, you have to watch for him to jitter a bit then press left.

Overall, the game may be simple but it challenges players with split second reactions to win. The graphics are nice and colorful and the huge sprites are nice. There's not much to go on for the music but for one lone track, it's rather catchy.

Why I went for the gold version is so that I can beat Tyson separately because having to beat the mike tyson release in one long session is nigh impossible for me, plus you only have a total of 2 chances (3rd loss is retirement) before you retire/game over. I would've done a perfect 13-0 much as I try, I don't have blistering reflexes.
I also settled for just beating tyson Separately which thankfully, I already did.
