Having undodgeable phase transition attacks that cause flickering is weirder than the game they picked this year.

It's actually not that much of a surprise that they went with a Ray Bit instead of the obvious choice of picking a Robbit, heck, we coulda even expected a Rabbiton, which I'm glad didn't happen cuz I'm too dumb to get MEDNAFEN running.

Believe it or not, this thing has even more attacks than Neon Tiger NY, so as much as inconsistency pains me, there won't be a deep breakdown of its attacks this time, instead I'll just focus on the most notable aspects of this fight.

This year's game gives us the full armor by default for the 1st time -not like the head and body parts matter for me, tho- and you're actually incentivized to use the level 3 charged shot or even turbo fire, specially in phase 1, which is sadly one of my most disliked sections in the entire series, but don't get me wrong, the attacks are all creative and well designed, while not my favorite sprite usage, I still like them... for the most part, yeah, this phase has this game's THAT attack, which is yet again another gatcha attack, in this case, contact damage by the boss simply jumping fast AF on top of you without a single warning, that's why I stay on the move almost at all times, obviously this attack isn't that bad by itself, it's when it combines it with other attacks that corner you what makes it feel REALLY cheap, and he can do this move twice in a row just in case you lowered your guard after the 1st time, yeah this pretty much makes this boss the uncontested king of contact damage, Clash Man Exile? Nah, at least his fight is really short. Centaur Man NY? Bleh, he's got the courtesy to give you a visual cue before giving you a coin toss. Toad Man MI? Pff, That's his main thing and he doesn't use extra attacks to corner you; another notable attack is when it grabs a met and teleports you then summons enemies -get it? Because it's a rabbit and pulls enemies out of a hat...-, this attack works like Bright Man's Flash Stopper except you can't skip it and will always summon the same enemies in the same order, after summoning 2 Mega Tortoises it will always stick to firing missiles, I don't remember what I was watching on my Roku that distracted me, but don't be a moron like me, go to the opposite edge of the screen before he starts doing the missile volleys, that way it will be significantly easier to do the back and forth strat, BTW don't get too close to it in this bit or it will channel its inner Metal Man and jump across the screen while attacking.

2nd phase is Asian moon rabbit, expectedly, I could be wrong but maybe the fact that the bunny is piloting Vile's ride armor is a reference that the X2 one is called rabbit ride armor? This part is way better than the previous one, all it's attacks are telegraphed and the contact damage is fair, it's such a fun battle, my only gripe would be that a bunch of the visual cues look similar, but hey, can't really blame them when there's lots of variety, this phase can be straight forward or you could get an unfortunate combination in the worst posible spot but still feel you're at fault. BTW I don't recommend letting it corner you, it won't necessarily always jump over you, if it decides to do an attack that uses its punches as a tell, those have active hurtboxes mate, but hey, it worked this time, right? Shoutouts to removing the low gravity after you destroy it.

3rd phase is just free filler for what comes next so it's not worth mentioning, after this one you're rewarded with a lil' mini game where you can defend yourself from meeting the same fate as the previous games, this is of course ENDLESS (as far as I know) but you get rank SA at 50 dodges.

So that was this year's hack, I swear those cheap gatcha attacks are only on these to pad out the playtime length, enough of that Puresabe, cuz if it wasn't for it I woulda finished this in 2 to 3 hrs as opposed to the 11 to 13 hrs it took -to be fair I got a successful try at the 7 hour mark, problem was, I got trapped by 1 of Vile's Electroshock Rounds right at the very end of phase 2, it doesn't technically do damage but my OCD wouldn't allow me to upload that replay-, truth to be told the 1st phase really left a sour taste in my mouth (it alone is as hard or harder than NY2014) but the genuine fun difficulty of the 2nd phase and the sheer creativity of the whole package outweighs the negative feelings, funnily enough I got the 2nd phase right twice within 30 minutes of practice but I couldn't quite replicate the same during the real attempts. Overall worth the wait as always and I again can't wait for the next one. Thank you very much for dropping by and happy new year.
