Putin proposes free internet access to important Russian sites. Talks about the Future and the Past
51Russia is one of the few countries that has its own social networks, messengers, mail and search engines, and other national sources. Putin called the possibility of access to the Network a vital necessity for Russian citizens. He proposed to launch a Russian programme named 'Accessible Internet' in his annual address to Russia‘s Federal Assembly.
The programme is designed to provide free access to socially significant domestic sources. Connection to such sites will be free of charge, they will not have to pay for traffic. This will become a competitive advantage for Russia, create new opportunities for education, creativity, communication and participation of people in the life of the country, Putin stated. Public owned telecom provider, Rostelecom backed Putin’s plans, saying that “in every situation a person must have the right to use a social or state service online.” The plan is just one key factor of the National Programs, to archive more technology and innovation inside Russia, along the other end goals like an improvement in Healthcare and Birth rate.
He further more talks about opening up a National Archive against Western/Fascists revisionism of history, with various Materials related to WWII being made accessible to everyone.
