Quake Clone - The Dark ZX Spectrum [Quick Play] | Nostalgia Nerd
Another FPS on the Spectrum?! This game in many ways is like Hexen, Heretic or Quake for the PC, and does indeed appear to be inspired by Id's Quake. But it's on the humble 8 bit Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Created by Oleg Origin originally in 1997, it's recently been refreshed for 2016, including improved graphics and gameplay. Developed shortly after Quake's release, on one of the many Russian Spectrum clones, it's obvious enough to say that this game was inspired by Quake and similar fantastical, dark, gothic games. The intro provides you with digitised speech, as you learn the story of a population massacred, from the forces of dark. A woman, Jane survives and gives birth to Alexander, who quests to free his country from these evil forces.
Shockingly this game will actually run on a bog standard 48k Spectrum! Which is a feat. of technical marvel when you see it in action!
Let's go and kick some ass.
