This video is part of a much larger set that encompasses the Ship Showcase Playlist for R-Type Final 2. I've used the Charon before - it was in fact the first ship I used for the Ship Showcase in stage 7.2.

The Charon is a powerful ship in the R13 series. The red weapon is a continuous red laser, that, while not as powerful as the Leo's red weapon, is still pretty good. The blue weapon splits into multiple beams that have very limited homing capability when they first target an enemy. The yellow weapon is clearly the strongest, as it has two beams that sweep the screen from the top of the Force to the middle of the screen. If you get up close on a large Bydo, you can almost guarantee to destroy it quickly. I was using Shield Bits, but in retrospect, would have been better served with Shadow Bits in this stage. The missiles are Depth Bombs, which are very limited in their uses in the game, but served me well here. The Bounce Lightning Wave Cannon homes in on enemies, and even fires behind you depending on what's on screen, and is a fantastic weapon. The Anchor Force doesn't fire while detached, but has a chained attached to it that will hurt enemies. If you leave the Force stuck to an enemy for too long, the chain will change colors and eventually the Force turns into a monster that attacks enemies for a few seconds. I don't like it when that happens, but it served me well against the boss.

This stage is underwater, and has Bydo fish that swim at you. They're easily destroyed, but you have to be aware of where they're coming from. The spinning objects that emit that sonar beam will suck enemies and your ship towards them - I had to stay at speed 4 to avoid that, despite not getting too close to them. I feel most comfortable at speed 3, but I did what I had to here. The Lightning Wave Cannon served me well in destroying the threats before I had to worry about being sucked towards them. Also, the Bit bait in this stage, trying to think it's slick. I wasn't fooled when I played this stage for the first time, but I wasn't sure how to make the enemy appear, and it did kill me a few times back then.

The boss is Boltimo, and detaches a piece of itself towards you. The detached piece sucks you in, so you need to stay at speed 4 while backing away. You can (and should) also use the detached piece to block the main boss's bullets, which cannot be absorbed by your Force. Once the detached piece is dead, it's a matter of just dodging bullets and shooting back - the Lightning Wave Cannon didn't always target the boss, so I had to dodge a bit to keep striking it. It was still better than having to manually aim at the boss. I used the Anchor Force to continually deal damage to it too, so it did serve me well here. I had to play this stage a bunch of times because I kept getting killed by the boss. Once I eliminated the detached part, it was much more manageable.
