This video is part of a larger set that encompasses the R-Type Final 2 Ship Showcase.

The Leo II is one of the most powerful ships in the game because its weapons are so good. The red weapon fires a continuous beam that does a hell of a lot of damage. The blue weapon fires from 45 degree angles and straight ahead, bouncing off of terrain. The yellow weapon will bend at 90 degrees and target enemies, making it one of the most useful yellow weapons in the game. The Psy Bits+ are outstanding as they give you both Bits with a single pickup, fire bullets or lasers with the Force attached, and turn back and forth with horizontal movements. They also home in and attack enemies when the Wave Cannon is charged and released. The Wave Cannon is a standard two loop charge, nothing special. The Leo Force behaves in the standard way and fires bullets in the standard pattern. Missiles are Homing, good for all occasions.

I've used the Leo II in my videos before, but as I try to use a different ship for each stage, I almost always start with the Leo II so that I can get fully armed, especially with Bits for all of my other ships since I try to No Miss the games. Bit power ups are not very common, so I like to have both as early as possible.

This stage is beautiful as it has your ship come out from behind a waterfall, much like the title screen for R-Type Final 3 shows, and has you fly over water, through caves, and has nice green backgrounds for you to admire. R-Type Final 3 is a much more beautiful game than RTF2 was - not knocking RTF2, but honestly, RTF3 is much better looking.

The first time I played RTF3, I was on Practice difficulty and I made it to the boss and I wasn't expecting where I needed to position myself, so I got killed by its arm since it's on top of the screen and you need to be in the middle, almost kissing the boss. The Leo II makes short work of the boss with its red weapon, as it destroys all of the bullets that the boss is firing.
