Irisu beaten on Impossible without Consumables or Buffs!
And by proxy... that means I officially beat the ENTIRE base game with these conditions!!! All thats left is DLC!



Alright so, for Irisu you have to be 100% ready. This not only includes all items, but I personally recommend to go get all Easter Eggs possible (65 Easter Eggs is the max you can get by this point btw. The other 15 are locked until you beat Irisu)

This is because each Egg slightly powers up the Rainbow shot. A couple of eggs wont make much difference, but a dozen or so does, by a fair amount, in fact. And trust me, you will need ALL the help you can have for this fight.

Thus, before this fight I went and collected all eggs I could, I got 64/80 for this fight, greatly upgrading the Rainbow Charged Shots.

I routed most of the fight so I know the general ideas and what to do at most moments- its rather strict, so its probably better to just watch it.
But basically the core idea here is: Rainbow Charged spam & Hammer stunlocking with Amulets. Also, good Rainbow Boost management to tank hits helps.

Fun fact: It seems the entire fight took *exactly* 10 Minutes.
0:13 is the start, 10:13 is the very end.

General tips:

*Defensive build STRONGLY recommended. Yes, you sacrifice some of your damage and the fight will take a bit longer, but it actually comes in handy in a ton of occassions- in particular, good luck surviving the Endurance phase without DEF Trade...

*It is possible to dodge the 1st transition squares with good jumping. I practiced this a bit but I still kinda suck at it- so generally I tend to tank at least 1 hit with Rainbow Boost. Heres a nice example of perfect dodging on this phase by this guy (Whom I learned this from and also the next tip!):

*For the 2nd transition, you will need to find a pixel perfect spot to squeeze between the squares (Hitbox Down badge needed). Try to find a reference to help you position yourself- Irisu’s mouth seems to be a good reference.

*For both 3:15 and 4:50 attacks, I recommend to just tank the hit with Rainbow Boost and use your iframes to rush to Irisu and attack her with all you have- its safer this way, and theres no danger of losing your rank either. They are also rather hard to dodge so might as well control when you take the hit, I say. More than a fair deal for just 160ish damage.

*I recommend to do some more Rainbow Charged shots spam at 5:18. You will obviously get Instant Death, yes, but the attack is rather easy to dodge or otherwise Amulet to (Unless you get bad RNG like it happened to me here...) You shouldt get hit.

*When Irisu does 5:33 attack, Purple Boost to prevent her from healing. I also hope you didnt forgot to equip the Tough Skin badge...

*It seems like she goes into Endurance phase when she has around 3K HP or so left. Take note of the background change.

Be patient with this. She sometimes may take a while to actually enter Endurance- this is the price you pay for having DEF Trade on. You wont be able to deal enough DPS to get into it quick, but its worth it IMO just for how much potential HP you can have entering it in a good run.

Not much to say about Endurance phase. Try to memorize a route so its easier to deal with it. Rainbow Boost is still king, both for reduced damage and Amulet Cut.

You have NO idea of how damn scary that ending (9:10 onwards) was for me... literally my heart was racing and I could feel its beats the entire time xDDD

So... thats it!..

The entire game cleared on Impossible without a single Consumable or Buff used!!!!

I had a ton of fun doing this. I believe doing the entire base game like this also made me learn even more about the game. It never felt TOO frustrating, either.
