Rat Hunter (2006, PC) Mission 14: The plot twist is that there is no plot twist
Butch Grid's escape from Monkey's prison leads him to the sewers (because what shitty game would be complete without them) where a major development happens: Milosh Plagin's A.I. reawakens inside Butch Grid's mind. As it turns out, Butch Grid wasn't really Milosh Plagin after all, he was just an unlucky son of the bitch whose body Milosh took over.
That's right: the big plot twist Gamersgate's store page hyped up is that there is no plot twist after all.
Butch doesn't want to play ball; at this point, he just wants to escape. His goal now is to find a working radar dish to send a distress call. After slaughtering more soldiers and gang members who coincidentally look exactly like the soldiers, he finds a working dish only to have Fritt Monkey intercept the message. The war on Stigs is now beyond his control, so Fritt's getting out of there. He's still willing to make a deal (the most obvious double-cross in the history of fiction) but for a paltry three-hundred thousands as opposed to the promised five millions...despite the fact that it was Milosh who promised that amount, not Monkey. All this goes on as Butch's mental state begins to unravel with no explanation.
First off, I apologize for the intro cutscene. My game crashed right after the previous level and this game has a problem where it doesn't play the pre-level dialogue if you load an autosave. Rather than replay 35 minutes worth of gameplay, I re-edited the dialogue in myself.
Secondly, this level is painful. Aside from the usual spawning of enemies right behind you, it has the single biggest "fuck you" moment in gaming history at 7:55 where four rocket-wielding enemies spawn ahead of you. If you don't know this is coming, you'll likely die here. God, look at that stupid enemy at 7:23. It takes 50 normal MG shots to kill him! That means on Hard he would take 100 MG shots to kill; 3 and 1/3rd magazines worth. How the fuck did anyone expect this game to be completed on Hard? Thankfully, I get equipped with the strongest and most game-breaking weapon in the game, the Plasma Gun. It has a charge-up time before firing, but it is stupidly powerful and by Level 16 you get unlimited ammo for it.
