How sad was it that in the 7th gen, the 3D platformer genre pretty much died. Ratchet, and Mario were the only two traditional 3D platformer franchises left standing, which was sad to see. I know Ratchet is a shooter/platformer hybrid that at times feels a lot more like a shooter than platformer, but for the 7th gen, it was pretty much Super Mario Galaxy, and Ratchet and Clank Future, and both were amazing. I don't think much has changed in that matter as 3D platfomers are near extinction still to this day, even if you still see a lot of their more addictive elements within more modern "AAA" games.

I love the Ratchet and Clank series, and I think every entry holds up beautifully in the gameplay department. The only one that is hard to go back to is the first, because it doesn't have the incredibly addictive leveling up system the sequels implemented, but even then, it's still a very well designed platformer. I jumped from the first game to Tools of Destruction, and then later picked up Up your Arsenal, and Going Commando. This is a great series, with iconic humor, and you can jump into any iteration, and instantly have fun. I love the Ratchet and Clank games, even if I haven't played all the offshoot games, just Deadlocked.
