Dillon Powers presents a utility app that provides a visualization of rat infestations based on public data from the New York City government. By combining the Socrata Open Data API with a Google Maps, RatMap lets users see where city officials have found active rat signs across the city. Users can filter by borough, or search for a given address for higher fidelity data. RatMap assigns a score to each location on the map, based on the number of passed or failed rat inspections performed by the city government, so users get a sense for the likelihood of rat infestations at around different parts of the city.
