Ray Crisis - Classic Arcade 3D Shoot 'Em Up (Taito G-NET 1998)

This classic 3D shoot 'em up was the prequel to Taito's earlier arcade SHMUP called Ray Force. Ray Crisis ran on Taito's G-NET arcade hardware, and shared many similarities with its predecessor Ray Force.

In Ray Crisis, your ship has 3 sets of weapons, including a shockwave blast, a primary laser (Ray) gun, and a lock-on homing mechanism that fires missiles at invading enemies; a feature that was also a hallmark of the original Ray Force game.

The game featured an encroachment system, that pits players to fight the final boss if the meter on the screen reaches
100%. To keep the encroachment meter down, players must act quickly to lock-on to enemy opponents before they exist
the screen, and without getting to close to them at the same time.

The game's sci-fi story is centered upon the "Con-Human" super computer system that has rebelled against its human creators. A half human/mecha hybrid then attempts to infiltrate the Con-Human system before it annihilates all of humanity.

Players take on the role of the Waverider Computer Virus, unleashed by the mecha to stop the Con-Human antibodies in their tracks.

The game's ending has a dystopian theme, with the majority of humanity being wiped out by the Con-Humans; leaving only 0.2% of the population left to thrive.

Despite tearing down the Con-Human system, the damage done in the process forced the remaining humans to leave Earth in hopes of colonizing distant planets and making them their new home.

Years pass before the humans make a return to Earth in a final bid to wipe out the invading Con-Human supercomputer once and for all, leacving planet Earth destroyed in the process.

The game was loater ported to consoles in 2000, including the Sony Playstation, Windows, and there was even a mobile port for Android.
