I still had some time left before the 24-hour waiting time for the seed had passed, so I decided to go and recruit Togemon and Veemon in the Server Desert. Talk to Togemon in the Server Cemetary and visit Veemon in the Noise Storm. Defeat Veemon and he'll join the city, then head back and fight Togemon to recruit him as well. There's still some time left so I decide to fish some more. You can sell the fish, feed it to your digimon, or keep it at the storehouse in case you still need it for Renamon and Seadramon later on. When the 24 hours have passed, head back to Taomon to continue the story. With both guard tamer skills learned as well as having one life-extending skill I opt to unlock the inventory expanding skill. Now with Taomon recruited, we can go and recruit Renamon as well (if you have fished up a Digicarp). If you haven't already, go to Mod Cape so you unlock the birdramon fast travel point there. Most enemies will be too strong at this point but you could pick up some materials if you want. Seadramon isn't available yet, but it won't be much longer before you can recruit him.

Veemon*: Upgrades your buildings in the city if you have the necessary materials
Togemon: Gives you one training boosting item in the morning, and rotates with Kuwagamon in the gym.
Taomon: Story-related npc
Renamon*: Opens the restaurant
*they won't do anything until your city grows some more
