The film depicts the Allied victory over the Soviet Empire, but Yuri rebels and disrupts the situation, forcing the Allies to focus their efforts on attacking Yuri. Meanwhile, the Trisolarans from outer space, known as Trisolarans, utilize high-tech weapons like sophons and possession to manipulate the Allies and attack Yuri. Finally, when the Allies employ Swordbearer technology to counter the Trisolarans, the Trisolarans use a dimensionality-reduction weapon called the Two-Dimensional Foil to unify the Allies, the Soviets, and Yuri, ultimately dominating Earth.
