Redneck Rampage: Suckin' Grits on Route 66 playthrough Part 3 Final
Some very annoying levels today. Not necessarily in the level themselves, there were some good tricks - even if one level did hall of mirrors because you could see two sectors at the same time that you're not supposed to. There was even a portion with two overlapping sectors, taking the same space. A feature the Build engine could do, but true 3D engines generally cannot. I say generally since, as games like Antichamber have shown us, that kind of technology has become available. But Build had that twenty years ago.
Overall, this expansion is just more Redneck Rampage. If you liked the original, you'll like this. If you didn't, you probably won't. As a mid-90's FPS goes, it's mediocre. Some good ideas, some annoying ideas, limited enemies, some frustrating, some clever. I can't say that this game is just straight bad. It's not. The theme doesn't help it, but there is some creative stuff in there. And some early uses of weapon recoil. It wouldn't take a lot of changes to have made these games really stand out. But they weren't really meant to. They filled their niche, and that's that. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
