Well, that ended faster than I'd expected. I'd heard there were more levels, but some of them were multiplayer and.. yea, turned out that this was another two-day expansion. Which, given that this was free when it was finally released, shouldn't be too surprising.

Some interesting ideas in the level design here. Interesting. Not necessarily good. In particular, a level that takes place on an airplane in mid-flight, including a couple places where you have to go outside the airplane. I did not like that. It wasn't very realistic, even pushing my suspension of disbelief past the breaking point. Level transitions that make no sense, and overuse of one of the new enemy types, but no new bosses.

All in all, Shadow Warrior really ends up being the lesser of the big three build engine games. Which is a shame, as it's the most technologically advanced. It just didn't work like the others did. And the expansions were no different. Sure, Duke Nukem 3D's expansions were largely not great, but we at least got Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach to entertain us. Blood's expansions fit fairly seamlessly with the game. And... well, we'll see what Redneck Rampage did coming up.

At least this one's free if you want to try it out. So there's always that. Just get the GoG version and find a nice source port and you're golden. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
