Well this is... different.

Semi-competent bots and a drunk man. Hmmm. Now that I think about it, there's hardly anything different about it.

Anyway, this is what a 'Botmatch' looks like in RemakeQuake, the odd little semi-expansion/enhancement that fiddles with weapon functions, basic enemy AI, and general item physics. At least when I'm playing around in it. There's quite a few changes, most noticeably the replacement of the Axe with an Ogre's Chainsaw, along with some of the minor stuff (all weapons are angled to the side).

Regarding weapons, for the early set the standard behaviour is familiar but different; they're essentially the same old boomsticks and whatnot everyone already knows, but with difference enough to mix up the gameplay. Shotguns are more powerful (at last) but are even more worthless at a range, Nailguns no longer fire a perfectly straight line of projectiles, and... well that's about all I worked out. Rockets and Grenades are still godly, and the Thunderbolt, as usual, happily makes a mess of anyone and everyone (although it uses three Cells to 'start up', as it were).

Many weapons also behave differently underwater. Yes, that's right; no longer is the Thunderbolt the only unsafe weapon in aquatic environments. You can just as easily blow yourself to hell by misfiring Shotguns and Rocket Launchers too, meaning your only real 'safe' weapon when swimming around is that poxy Chainsaw. This can take some getting used to... and often results in your weapon exploding. Yes, that's right. Any weapon you misfire breaks completely and is LOST, meaning you must find another to replace it.

Thankfully, this also applies to the AI. By which I don't just mean bots; any Grunts stupid enough to go wading around after Quakeguy will just as easily misfire their boomsticks too, blowing their faces open in the process. That's not included in this video, but may well appear at a later date, along with any other nonsense I find within this mod.

Enough waffle. Go get it:

It's somewhere in this topic. And it's well worth trying out. Even if you know Quake inside-out, it makes at least the first episode worth going through yet again.
