Next in line for examination, Alan Wake presents lighter, more apparent themes of light vs dark, writer vs publisher, and creator vs creation. The torment of the artist, if you will. It's also a pretty neat game with satisfying, albeit repetitive shooty-bits, a fantastic atmosphere and score to accompany it, and yet another in-world fictional TV series worth a watch.

It was followed by American Nightmare, a more overt expansion focused on self-redemption and the illusion of freedom induced by a paradigm shift, and I'll be diving into the reason behind its negative reception (stacked next to the main game).
