Author J. P. Edgar plays games he has never played before. This time, it's "Resident Evil 2" on the PS4, where a truck driver forgets to double-tap, we RNG Leon... Are you using desal fuel? Anyway, we discover shooting someone in the head doesn't mean what it's supposed to mean, party up with Claire (no, not from my book), drive to Racoon City where it appears to be a warzone (with blocked off roads, exploding trucks, the works), make our way to the police station, which has been converted to a shelter, but that doesn't mean it's safe. Bodies and abandoned vehicles are on the street, trash, fires... it's rough. Hopefully, Leon will get his act together, because this isn't normal.
The inside of the police station isn't any better. The worst of it was the women's bathroom and the post-Taco Bell plumbing punishment. I mean, who is going to clean that up? We are only half as helpful to someone as we grab a notebook with doodles in it. We meet Lieutenant Dan, I mean "Branagh," who has some serious injury on the left side of his abdomen. You know, I found some first aid spray in the women's toilet. I'm sure it's sanitary.
Anyway, Lt. Dan gives us a knife with a durability like he got it from the Dollar Tree, find a statue with a three-spool combination lock (and we wonder why no one noticed or solved it before), see an umbrella single-handily sealing the front doors shut (that isn't entirely accurate), and learn that the police station and an orphanage are tourist traps. As someone in the chat put it, "[I]magine being a kid and people from all over the world come to gawk at the house you live in because you don't have a family to take you on vacations".
We wander the dark halls with only a flashlight to guide us, see peeps burst through windows, wonder why there are so many strange locks in the police station, because the police hadn't considered getting the locks changed out, hang out in the locker room, and finally reach our assigned desk in the station. Turns out, Leon is a rookie. A new recruit. This is his first day at the RPD. I'm glad he knew how to get to the station. We play along with the sick, sick police officers of the RPD and get our desk open, wander into a dark room to develop a roll of film we found only for a single picture to come out, and run straight into a hole in the library balcony. Screw you, game! Lt. Dan summons us back to the entryway, where we wonder why he hasn't dressed his wound yet. Come on, man. You're bleeding out, and you can get an infection. And we... Uh-oh. Low power. Next time, Gadget. Next time!
