고대 유물을 조각 단위로 복원해 나가는 퍼즐 게임입니다.
수십 개로 흩어진 조각들을 회전시켜 적절한 위치에 맞춰가며 원형의 유물을 완성하는 것이 핵심 플레이입니다.
퍼즐은 단순한 듯 보이지만, 조각 수가 많아질수록 형태가 비슷한 조각들이 늘어나며 착오를 유도하고, 후반으로 갈수록 집중력을 요구하게 됩니다.
일부 퍼즐에서는 완성된 유물의 사진이 제공되지만, 조각의 크기가 작고 디테일이 흐릿하게 표현되어 참고하기가 쉽지는 않죠.
그럼에도 하나하나 조각을 맞춰가며 전체 형태가 서서히 드러날 때의 성취감은 꽤 매력적입니다.
게임의 분위기를 부드럽게 만드는 또 하나의 요소는 귀여운 고양이들입니다.
유물 주변을 돌아다니며 조용히 지켜보는 고양이들은 직접적인 힌트를 제공하지 않지만, 은은한 존재감으로 플레이에 위안을 줍니다.
가끔 야옹 소리를 내거나 살짝 움직이며, 복잡한 퍼즐 도중 소소한 힐링을 느낄 수 있죠.
다만 일부 조작은 익숙한 퍼즐 게임들과 다르게 설정되어 있어 초반엔 살짝 당황할 수 있습니다.
예를 들어 조각 회전 방향이나 줌인/줌아웃 방식이 일반적인 방식과 반대로 동작하기 때문에 손에 익기까지 약간의 시간이 필요합니다.
또한, 완성 사진만 제공되는 방식보다는 한정된 횟수 내 힌트 기능이 추가되면 더 직관적이고 몰입도 높은 플레이가 가능했을 것 같습니다.
조용히 퍼즐을 맞추고 싶을 때, 혹은 아무런 전투도 경쟁도 없는 평화로운 시간을 보내고 싶을 때 이 게임은 꽤 괜찮은 선택이 될 수 있습니다.

Restoring the Past is a calming puzzle game focused on reassembling ancient artifacts piece by piece.
Scattered fragments must be rotated and placed in their correct positions to rebuild the relics in their original form.
As you progress, the number of pieces increases and their shapes become more deceptively similar, requiring sharp observation and patience.
A reference image of the completed relic is sometimes provided, though it’s often too small or faint to be of much help. Still, watching the scattered chaos slowly transform into a beautiful whole offers a uniquely satisfying experience.
One of the game’s most endearing elements is the presence of adorable cats lounging around the edges of the puzzle.
They don’t offer hints or gameplay assistance, but their quiet presence and occasional meows add a relaxing charm that balances the mental challenge.
However, some control elements might feel unintuitive at first.
The rotation direction and zoom functions operate opposite to what many puzzle fans might be used to, which takes a bit of adjustment.
A limited-use hint system could have been a welcome addition to ease difficulty in later puzzles.
