This weeks retro Friday see me resurrected into the raycast glory of the gothic horror game Blood (1997). A game that is actually new to me, although it shares a lot in common with other late raycast era games like Duke Nukem 3d (with which it shares an engine). Make no mistake this is an old school game with proper old school hardcore gameplay. For which I am ill prepared it seems.
Many deaths ensue over which I blabber on about the past glories of raycast rendering, the evolution of texture mapped polygon games and hardware and how voxels old and new fit in... At least that's what I was trying to blabber on about, you be the judge of if I succeeded or not ;)
Blood is perhaps that last and in many way probably best game of the raycast era (at least in technical terms). If you played this game back in the day or are just a fan of raycast games then its well worth grabbing this bad boy and transporting yourself back to the 90s :)
Thanks to Mick Berry from the google+ retro video games community for recommending this game :D
