RETROGAMING WITH RETROARCH ON 4k OLED TV ( custom wip shader)
the retroarch preset looks nothing like a consumer crt sony or other, they take all the worst defaults of the crt and compile them in a shader
what a horror try the basic royal crt preset? or kurozomi supposedly the closest to a tv crt? on 4k tv... for me oled?
I'm still playing on a sony trinitron kvb aperture grill crt and nothing looks remotely like my crt only my preset is starting to look like my tv.
I have been working for over a month on a shader preset for retroarch on 4k oled tvfor me the scanline are ineffective on a modern tv, it doesn't filter the image in movement, the scanline disappear in shader, on crt in 240p it's not a problem because each pixel is in its place, on a modern tv 1080p or 4k the scanline in vertical movement won't filter your games anymore.....
then i try to recreate a sony kvb trinitron aperture grill crt
my goal is simple just find my games pretty in 4k on the oled, and as bad as it looks none of the 40 different presets and shaders i have tested make the games pretty, i see big black bar scanline dark colours too much contrast gamma is bad brightness is nothing like a crt even the worst crt i have seen are not as bad as crt royal ....
if you don't modify anything and take the default preset? on oled it's really ugly sorry for the creator of this shader but i'm honest and i still play on a small sony kvb aperture crt in native 240p resolution and i have no defect that shader try to reproduce, they take the worst defect the bloom the reshape etc.. . to simulate a crt? but 99% of people who have had crt's have never seen such ugly games for sure. my crt is so sharp that i use nvidia sharpening at 100% to try to compete with my crt in short far from the reality the retroarch shader...
(CUSTOM PRESET SHADER FOR 4K WRGB)
LIKE CRT SONY APERTURE GRILL CONSUMER TV
for a correct viewing on oled
modele tv : ( PANASONIC ez950 lg screen panel hdr 3860x2160)
the hdr is not active i am in rec709 with rec2020 colour range on the tv
as I have the active bfi (BLACK FRAME INSERTION)
the only way to get closer to my crt in fluidity of movement
(motion movement) my shader compensates for the 30 or 40% light loss
luminosity 70 or 80
contrast 70 or 80
game color normal ( not hot1 or hot2 etc....)
image advance color rec2020 ( or native) not rec709 or smpte etc... in rec 2020 the red and blue will match my crt sony kvb aperture grill reference. i'm working on it and i tested more than 250 games per system on a crt and on oled for comparison.
I'm uploading a video on my channel so that people with an oled tv can see live the rendering they can have.
see you soon
( no bfi for photos contrast 60?? you see)
