This video shows a successful return-to-orbit from the surface of Eve in Kerbal Space Program v1.0.2. The rocket has a mass of 820 tonnes, a 8,854 m/s vacuum DeltaV (4,795 m/s DeltaV at Eve's close-to-sea-level altitude of 672 m.) The sea-level-thrust (SLT) ratio at launch is a reasonable 1.79. It is powered by 25 "Mainsail" engines that are staged in the "asparagus" pattern. Throttle and acceleration limitation are required on ascent to avoid an overheating critical failure (i.e., ship explosion.) Now with a more optimal ascent profile.
