Review: To Bee or not to Bear? - Nice new casual-title for iPod / iPhone / iPad
Hello there! My name is Fabian and you're watching Fabela iMag.
Today I want to present you a review about "To Bee or Not To Bear". This is a new fun skill game ", which reminds of games like "Fruit Ninja". The game is, as the title already signifies, all about bees and bears. However, the developers must have been on a strange trip while inventing this game. I can't imagine another way how one gets such crazy ideas about the background story. "To Bee or Not To Bear" is acting in Hiveland, where - I really had to laugh about that! - the bees and the bears all day long have nothing better to do than to bungee jump on fire-hoses! Hello?! Where does one get such an idea...? I truly had to re-read the description of the game in order to be sure this is right.
Anyway, the bees are responsible to grow the honey in their beehive - as it is their nature...but they are not flying, the are bungee jumping. The bears almost do the same but of course instead of bringing yummy honey they steel it.
Now you are supposed to be on the bees' side and have to prevent the bears from stealing the honey. This you do by swiping the fire-hoses into pieces. Well, that is easier said than done because you have to pay attention to the various other bees who are flying over the screen. You may only cut the bears' hoses, otherwise the game will soon be over. For each correctly cut bear hose you get points, for hoses of special bears even more. Your aim is to fill the beehive completely with honey, for which you have 5 minutes. If you're successful you are released to the next level. There are 10 levels that mainly differ from each other by the nicely arranged backgrounds. Very nice are the different effects in the levels, where your sight is limited, because you cut the wrong fire hose. The funny music fits the game very well.
My conclusion:
"To Bee or Not To Bear" is a nice skill game with charming graphics. But to be honest, it's
not an easy game! One needs to concentrate on the game very well, otherwise the bees are beaten quite quickly. A possibility to choose different difficulty-settings would have been nice - like a more advanced combo-score-system. Nevertheless: if you liked Fruit Ninja you may be interested in this highscore-game as well. It's available as universal App for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad for 89 Euro Cents in the App Store.
