Rin: The Last Child Demo - Learn Magic to Rough Up Demigods Trying to Destroy Creation
A quick playthrough of Rin: The Last Child, an upcoming metroidvania where you play as a demigoddess awakened to beat up your siblings for getting drunk on power and wanting to wreck all of creation or something because this is a story about free will, the sort of free will experienced when you give a child a loaded gun without knowledge of consequences and then act surprised when tragedy results.
It looks pretty and what little of the spell crafting system looks promising, especially as there appears an option to disenchant spells which suggests being able to swap spells on the fly as the situation demands. There's also standard metroidvania upgrades for movement.
The animations feel a little off, I'm not exactly sure what it is, although I did encounter several points where turning is a bit stiff to react to enemies on opposite sides. As well, the meditation ability to restore mana would help not having a one bar cap (it's not exactly a safe ability to use in combat). It also seems the mini-boss that ends the demo should have had more air currents on its platform to not require running to the other end to get over and behind it (you cannot duck so the lasers tend to be outrange or jump/dash to wait them out otherwise).
It does seem okay in its current form and hopefully more polish will make this really worth playing whenever it releases.
