This is a sustained test of my first flight sim gaming on the Oculus Rift dev kit , I am purposefully challenging the upchuck factor with spins , rapid head swings and zoom ins and outs ! As you can see I can play 30 odd minutes without nausea.Towards the end you can see I am actually having fun, entombed in my Cyberpunk foam helmet of Astro A40s and Rift .The Astros actually help clamp the Rift to you . The Rift like the HMZT series is "front of face" heavy. The Map text and menus are off screen, but you could always use speech recog to operate them , I used the Force. The scale is there vertically in the aircraft structure and the cinema loading screen really is the size of a cinema screen ! But the magic Rift top of the stairs Vertigo is not there . This video will be accompanied by a live action video to show the Rifts screen door and visible pixels with combine to turn distant enemies into Tetris blocks. In this game the screen door and visible pixels really shatter the beauty but you still have the scale. I will have similar videos comparing RoF gameplay using the Cinemizer OLED and smd ST1080 and the live videos to attempt to illustrate what is possible right now all 3 HMDS .. comparing Oculus Rift LCD 4:5 640 800 scaled 1080p sbs 3D , Cinemizer OLED 16:9 872 500 scaled 1080p t/b 3D and sT1080 LCOS 16:9 1920 1080 true native 1080p sbs 3D.. full write up and explanation to follow
All FOV movement is via use of the Zeiss headtracker tucked under the Oculus head strap , I used an old ForceFeeback Pro joystick with throttle to fly..
