Many many many thanks to @ReBITMAGAZINE for playing this game!
He's really a MSX expert (as well as many other home computer systems) so check his channel for some pure knowledge!
Now let's see what he wrote about this game:

MSX and NES ports were both released in 1985 and they are the only official Konami ports (+ a mobile version released in 2004).
The msx conversion was released before the nes one.
MSX version takes advantage of the fast dedicated video-ram and related data bus, used for boosting scrolling speed, providing a more fluid gameplay effect.
There are some graphic variations on the msx, mostly customizations.
Fuel is not drawn as a "rainbow" machine, like in the arcade, but as a pink heart. Other cars are slightly larger, while every scenario also have little more details than the arcade original.
The arcade version of Road Fighter had a spiritual sequel, namely Konami GT, a first-person racing game.
On msx there were two of them. The "spiritual" or conceptual one was Hyper Rally, which changes the view, switching to the first person (like Konami GT). The technical one, F1 Spirit, was born on Road Fighter graphics engine, changing game dynamics into a much more complex simulation (you will play a real racing career).
There are 6 levels (sorry for the wrong info in the video), with two different difficulties chosen when starting the game.
When the game loops, also difficulty level increase.
An homebrew was developed for TI99, the computer where msx graphic chip comes from: Road Hunter. This was an hybrid between Road Fighter and Spy Hunter.
This Ti99 game features smooth scrolling.

This video is part of the videogame endings database, whose goal is to catalogue and create the world's largest archive of videogame endings! (what an humble and not ambitious project :D)
