GAME INFO:
This game was developed and published by SNK that was released for Neo Geo arcades and home consoles in 1991 and the Neo Geo CD in 1995.
There is no character selection in Robo Army : Player 1 controls Maxima and Player 2 controls Rocky. Both cyborgs must cross six levels before reaching the end boss. During these levels, they will face the Professor's henchmen, as well as a sub-boss and a boss in each stage. The two heroes can of course fight with their fists and feet, but they can also defend themselves by collecting improvised weapons (car carcass, barrel, destroyed robot arm). They each have a power gauge allowing them to launch powerful attacks according to the power gained. Maxima and Rocky can also be transformed for a brief moment into an invulnerable armored vehicle.
A few years later, the character Rocky makes an appearance in the famous King of Fighters franchise, also from SNK. He appeared as Maxima's striker in The King of Fighters 2000. Back during the planning stages for The King of Fighters '99, there were supposedly plans to make a Robo Army team. For reasons unknown, this idea was abandoned but Rocky was added in 2000 as a tribute.
GAME RECORDING INFO:
The game was integer scaled to 4k, without bi-linear filtering, and retaining the original aspect ratio (display aspect ratio, not internal resolution). And captured using a filter that simulates the image of a CRT monitor. I also use a image of arcade machines as a bezel above the game, to create a nostalgic atmosphere.
