RoboCop, Zelda & Rare JRPGs?! NES + Sendico Pickup Madness! | RAD Chaser
The NES Quest marches on — and we’ve officially hit 46 out of 100 NES games in 2025!
This week’s episode is a full-on nostalgia overload: part retro cartridge deep dive, part Japanese game import showcase. If you love dusty gray carts and obscure Japanese RPGs, this one’s for you.
🎮 NES Quest – Games 41 to 46
We’re adding six new NES games to the collection this week, each one adding its own flavor to the growing wall of 8-bit history:
🔫 RoboCop – This gritty side-scroller gives you just enough firepower and frustration to match the movie's tone. Clunky? Yes. Iconic? Also yes.
🌀 Defender II – The arcade classic brought home. Blast aliens, rescue civilians, and prepare to test your reflexes.
🍗 Popeye – A weirdly faithful arcade port where you collect hearts and letters while dodging Brutus. No spinach required, but it helps.
🚀 Alpha Mission – Vertical shooter with upgradeable armor systems. It’s a little slow, but it paved the way for SNK’s future space shooters.
🕰️ Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? – Track V.I.L.E. across history with your trusty Chronoskimmer. It’s educational, stylish, and pure early-90s computer lab nostalgia.
🗺️ The Legend of Zelda – It needs no intro. But yes, I finally have an NES copy for the Quest. A true pillar of the 8-bit legacy.
That brings the NES Quest total to 46 out of 100 — and we’re still on pace to hit our target by year’s end.
📦 Sendico Haul – Rare Japanese Imports & RPG Gold
In the second half, we switch gears and dig into another Japanese game haul from Sendico, loaded with import-only treasures:
⚔️ Final Fantasy IV (DS) – The classic reimagined in 3D, with updated mechanics and voice acting. The Japanese box art? Absolutely beautiful.
🔮 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (DS) – Multiplayer-focused dungeon crawling with a clean anime aesthetic. One of the more overlooked DS-era spin-offs.
🌌 Grandia III (Dreamcast) – Wait… what?! Yep, the Japan-exclusive Dreamcast version of Grandia III. Rare, beautiful, and a timeline twist.
📚 Japanese Learning Games – A batch of quirky, kanji-focused DS titles designed for kids and students. Calligraphy simulators, kanji puzzles, and even stylus-based handwriting practice.
🌿 Legend of Legaia (PS2) – The often forgotten sequel to the PS1 classic. Turn-based battles, elemental spirits, and a deep combo system.
🗡️ Dragon Quest Swords (Wii) – Sword-swinging motion controls meet Dragon Quest charm. This one never got the credit it deserved.
🏰 Dragon Quest VIII (PS2) – The cel-shaded king. Even in Japanese, the presentation here is breathtaking.
💫 Final Fantasy X & XII (PS2) – Two of the most important entries in the franchise, with their Japanese covers looking way cooler than the US versions.
🛠️ Damage Report 1 & 2 (PS2) – Wildly niche Japanese games about repairing damage in buildings and disaster zones. They’re oddly relaxing and strangely satisfying.
🕶️ Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) – A minimalist masterpiece. Holding this version in hand feels like owning poetry in plastic form.
Whether you’re chasing carts or collecting imports, we’ve got something in this episode for every kind of gamer.
Let us know in the comments: Which NES game or Japanese title should we hunt down next?
We're building out this collection one memory at a time.
