Robodunk is a game that I’ve been looking forward to for a long time, so I made a video of it to give it some love.
It’s inspired by NBA Jam, but with a roguelike campaign featuring robots that can be upgraded and permanently destroyed (you probably know how roguelikes work by now). It also features extensive lore about why dunking is the meaning of life, in case you didn’t already know why that's the case.
This video is taken from a months-old demo (there is now a free 'Prologue' available but the core gameplay hasn't changed between the two). I recorded a standalone match (not part of the roguelike campaign) to show off the core gameplay mechanics and the risk-reward system for scoring points. I hope that the video was able to do that while also being a fun match to watch... even if it turned into a bit of a blowout by the end. The roguelike campaign is a lot more challenging than this!
You may also notice that the game has a ‘stop-motion’ visual style. It’s a bit weird at first, but I got used to it after a while. Give this video multiple views until you get used to it too!
